Tim Niemier grew up in Malibu among the surfing legends and pioneering watermen who defined the California lifestyle. The first time Tim ventured into the waves, the ocean stole his soul and never gave it back. Tim struggled with attention deficit disorder long before it was defined but against overwhelming odds used it to his advantage. By using the power of A.D.D. he combined his passions for art and water sports into designs for kinetic kayak sculptures. Unlike his Malibu counterparts Tim chose a different path when he converted a surfboard into the first sit-on-top kayak.

 

Tim introduced this sit-on-top kayak to the world when he started Ocean Kayak Inc. in 1971, which became a multi-million dollar business  transforming paddle sports from elite expert sports into recreational activities anyone could enjoy.

People have said; "Today, there are more boats and boards on this earth designed by Tim Niemier than anyone else in history" but that's not stopping him. Tim has the audacious dream of "getting a billion butts on boats and boards" by creating simple water-friendly designs for everyone. 

 

Having introduced the sit on top kayak to the world over 45 years ago in Malibu he has not (and can not) stop designing. The all NEW ScupPro kayak based on the Original Scupper, and the all NEW Malibu Outrigger are brand new revisions to two of Tim’s first boats he designed and grew up with.

 

So it’s sort of de ja vu all over again as this Millionare Beach Bum continues on with his passions for design and watersports.
