Sea Otter Island featured on Nuchalitz Island

This is the front of the house and the next shot is taken from just above my friends hat.

This is looking back to the large covered entry to the back of the house.

The covered Deck has a bunch of floats from the beaches tied above and the bike is a wonderful way to get around the island.

You can see the floats out the window from inside the living room

This is now from the living room looking into the kitchen past the office area. The stove is just to the right.

This corner is where the last shot was taken showing the living room.

Now I stepped back into the kitchen showing the 5 foot round table I built from a beach fir tree that was almost clear. The beam above came from the same tree. Look to the left to see the bar that looks out to the Pacific Ocean.

This view shows the table again but from the other view where you can see the kitchen and the circular green house windows that let in light and heat. There are sky lights above as well for light and solar heat.

Now looking just to the left you can see out the picture window that looks out to sea just to the right of the trees.

Last but not least is the bedroom upstairs which is a huge 16 x 24 feet space with a deck and a slider. There are also skylights here as well.

I named my part of Nuchatlitz Island Sea Otter Island, because there are tons of Sea Otters in the area.

At a real high tide a few times a year it is an island unto itself and I wanted this little island to have its own identity.

Nuchatlitz Island and surrounding area is located in Canada on the pristine west coast of Vancouver Island.  It is in a spectacular natural reserve with all the comforts of home.   Any house is very rare in this wilderness and this area will never be developed.  You can live comfortably in a virgin rain forest with Bald Eagles, Whales, Otters, Salmon, and other wildlife at your doorstep.

The house is totally self sufficient with water and full solar power enough so you could stay out there without hardly spending any money if you wanted.  There is a small local community for company.  Civilization is definitely over the horizon and life is simple enough to comprehend again.  Sometimes it is so quiet and still that you can hear the blood flow through your ears and hear yourself think.

Other times the weather and waves show their awesome power and beauty.

To many it is not a place but a state of mind to be there.  Once you venture out of the bay there are miles and miles of bigger wildlife, awesome geography, shorelines, bays, fishing and a lifetime of adventures to fill your life and soul with.
