Sea Otter Island featured on Nuchalitz Island

This is the front of the house and the next shot is taken from just above my friends hat.

This is looking back to the large covered entry to the back of the house.

The covered Deck has a bunch of floats from the beaches tied above and the bike is a wonderful way to get around the island.

You can see the floats out the window from inside the living room

This is now from the living room looking into the kitchen past the office area. The stove is just to the right.

This corner is where the last shot was taken showing the living room.

Now I stepped back into the kitchen showing the 5 foot round table I built from a beach fir tree that was almost clear. The beam above came from the same tree. Look to the left to see the bar that looks out to the Pacific Ocean.

This view shows the table again but from the other view where you can see the kitchen and the circular green house windows that let in light and heat. There are sky lights above as well for light and solar heat.

Now looking just to the left you can see out the picture window that looks out to sea just to the right of the trees.

Last but not least is the bedroom upstairs which is a huge 16 x 24 feet space with a deck and a slider. There are also skylights here as well.

GENERAL

oNuchatlitz and my house on Sea Otter Island are very special places because it is living in a spectacular natural reserve and park with all the comforts of home. I call my place Sea Otter Island because there are many Otters everywhere and at an extreme high tide the back yard gets a little wet making where the house is, an island for a few hours. Nature is overwhelming from the growth of the huge trees to the many animals that are all around you. Someone said it is like cruising on a sailboat because everything - like the 12’ tides to the weather - changes so much. The house is totally self sufficient with water and full solar power. Enough so that you could stay out there without hardly spending any money if you wanted. Civilization is definitely over the horizon and life is simple enough to comprehend again. Sometimes it is so quiet and still that you can hear the blood flow through your ears and hear yourself think. Other times the weather and waves show there awesome power and beauty. To many it is not a place but a state of mind to be there. Once you venture out of the bay there are miles and miles of bigger wildlife, shorelines, bays, fishing and a life time of adventures to fill your life and soul with.

KAYAKING

oThis is one of the best places to kayak because of the many many islands and places to explore. Most of them look like someone planted Bonsai trees on them. Except for the ocean, things are relatively peaceful and calm.

SURFING

oThere are many great spots that are fairly close by that people do safaris to. Just a few miles to the south is a place that once had fly-in surf charters going to it. One camp is right at a large waterfall that goes right onto the beach so you can rinse off before heading into camp.
