Sea Otter Island featured on Nuchalitz Island

This is the front of the house and the next shot is taken from just above my friends hat.

This is looking back to the large covered entry to the back of the house.

The covered Deck has a bunch of floats from the beaches tied above and the bike is a wonderful way to get around the island.

You can see the floats out the window from inside the living room

This is now from the living room looking into the kitchen past the office area. The stove is just to the right.

This corner is where the last shot was taken showing the living room.

Now I stepped back into the kitchen showing the 5 foot round table I built from a beach fir tree that was almost clear. The beam above came from the same tree. Look to the left to see the bar that looks out to the Pacific Ocean.

This view shows the table again but from the other view where you can see the kitchen and the circular green house windows that let in light and heat. There are sky lights above as well for light and solar heat.

Now looking just to the left you can see out the picture window that looks out to sea just to the right of the trees.

Last but not least is the bedroom upstairs which is a huge 16 x 24 feet space with a deck and a slider. There are also skylights here as well.

What I tried to do with this space when I built it was to keep social areas where the views are and create spaces for privacy.

Outside the back door has a large covered space about 10 x 16 foot that is great for taking off rain gear before entering.  There are two doors from there that go into a laundry room/bedroom and place to hang up wet cloths on the left and the door to the living room on the right.  The living room is 16 x 24 and the original two story house size I started with in the 70's.  The living room has two large and one single futon couches that fold into great beds.  As you walk through the living room you see the wood stove which makes it nice to hang out in the night time.

As you walk through there is an office area that has all the radios and telephone.  As you keep on walking you come to the kitchen which is very bright and cheery and has plexiglass curved windows that the water streams down when it rains.  There is a refrigerator and stove for cooking.  Directly in back of the sink in the middle of the house not pictured is the pantry that is vented to the outside so it keeps things cool.  There is also a bedroom next to the kitchen that has a upper and lower area for two beds.

As you continue to walk to your left around the pantry you come to the door to the bathroom or washroom that has the flash hot water heater, bath tube shower, and odorless toilet.  Step through the door at the other end of the washroom and you are back in the extra bedroom/laundry room that is where we started.

The only thing left is to go upstairs with the bent wood banister that takes you up to the master bedroom which is a full 16 x 24 feet and has another desk up there.  In the winter it is nice and warm to be up there.

Not pictured is the 16 x 28 shop below that is right on the water with large cedar decks around it.
